Project CSSDT 15.817.02.06F Multifunctional oxychalcogenide and metaloorganic materials with advanced magnetic, absorptive and luminescent characteristics: synthesis, experimental study, modeling and applications

Type : Institutional project, SCSTD code 15.817.02.06F, acronym - MULTIMAGSPEC
Head : Leonid Kulyuk, acad. ASM
Duration : 2015 - 2019
Division(s) : Laboratory of Physical Methods of Solid State Investigation “Tadeusz Malinowski”

The project was focused on preparation and investigation of spinel compounds based on transition and rare-earth metals, bulk and two-dimensional lamellar crystals of transition-metal dichalcogenides, metalloorganic materials, coordination polymers, and nanoclusters, single-molecule magnets, manifesting advanced magnetic, luminescent and absorptive properties promising for application in spintronics and optoelectronics devices. Was planed to investigate new magnetic and multiferroics states in spinel materials AB2X4 (A= Cd, Zn Fe, Mn; B= V, Cr, Sc, Er, Yb; X=0, S, Se) with enhanced functionality. Perfect single crystals were grown and their structural, magnetic and dielectric properties were studied with the aim of elucidation of the magnetic ground state, dominant exchange interactions and the origin of the multiferroicity. Was planed to grow and investugate optical and radiative properties of bulk (3D) lamelar crystals and two-dimensional (2D) atomically thin layers of transition-metal dichalcogenides MX2 (M=Mo, W; X=S, Se) perspective for design of new semiconductor van der Waals heterostructures. Was planed to use the principles of crystal engineering and new methods of synthesis of metallorganic materials (MOM) for developing of multifunctional MOM, in particular coordination polymers, nanoclusters and polymers on their base. To ensure magnetic interactions in the new materials including single molecule magnets (SMMs) and to control their dimensionality and porosity d and f metal ions, metal-organic precursors and organic/inorganic linkers.
