Project ANCD 22.80013.5007.5BL Cu2ZnGeS4, Cu2CdGeS4 compounds and Cu2ZnxCd1-xGeS4 solid solutions: synthesis, growth and physico-chemical properties

Type : International Bilateral Project under the Agreement on Scientific and Technical Operation between the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the National Agency for Research and Development of the Republic of Moldova
Head : Ernest Arushanov, acad.
Duration : 2022 - 2023
Division(s) : Laboratory of Materials for Photovoltaics and Photonics

Project objectives:
The aim of this projectb was to establish the optimal growth regimes of homogeneous compounds of CZGeS, CCdGeS and solid solutions CZCdGeS, as well as detailed research of their fundamental properties, with the establishment of the correlation between them and the technological conditions of obtaining.
To achieve this, the following objectives have been set:
1. Drawing the state diagram of the system Сu2ZnGeS4 - Cu2CdGeS4 and determining the optimal regimes for synthesis and growth of crystals of solid solutions Cu2ZnxCd1-xGeS4 by the method of oriented crystallization (Bridgman method) and gas phase (chemical transport method).
2. Determination of the composition, structure and mechanical properties of Cu2ZnGeS4, Сu2CdGeS4 and Cu2ZnxCd1-xGeS4 solid solutions.
3. Study of the transmission, photoluminescence and vibrational spectra of Cu2ZnxCd1-xGeS4 series compounds.
4. Determining the legality of changing the parameters of the elementary cell, the density, the micro-hardness and the width of the forbidden band of the compounds synthesized by the composition x.
5. Detailed study of the transport properties of crystals obtained over a wide range of temperatures and in the presence of the magnetic field.
